An Anesthesiologist is a Physician (M.D. or D.O.) who has completed and graduated Medical School and then a four-year Residency program in Anesthesiology following their undergraduate Bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of Residency training, Anesthesiologists must take and pass separate written and oral examinations by the American Board of Anesthesiology in order to become “Board-Certified” Diplomates of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

All of CAPA’s doctors are Diplomates of the American Board of Anesthesiology and possess unrestricted North Carolina medical licenses issued by the North Carolina Medical Board.

Some of our physicians have additional certifications in subspecialties of Anesthesiology. If you want to know more about the education and training of anesthesia doctors follow this link to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
