Our Clinical Staff

our clinical staffOur clinical staff consists of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA's), Physicians Assistants (PA-C's) and Registered Nurses (RN's).

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

All of CAPA's CRNA's are certified by American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and are licensed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. A CRNA is an advanced practice registered nurse who has completed education and clinical requirements to provide anesthesia to patients. Prerequisites to CRNA training include an active RN license, a minimum of one year critical care nursing experience, and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. A CRNA has completed 24-36 months of education and clinical practice in an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program and passed a national certification exam. A CRNA receives a Master of Science degree in nursing specializing in anesthesia upon completion of his or her training program.

Ronald Cochran, CRNA
Ron Cochran, CRNA, earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regents University in Albany, NY, graduating summa cum laude. He served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps. prior to becoming a nurse. Mr. Cochran practiced for 8 years in the ICU at High Point Regional Health Systems before becoming a CRNA. He completed the CRNA program at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC and a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mr. Cochran has been a CRNA since 2002.

Julianne Whittington, CRNA
Julie Whittington, CRNA, graduated with Honors from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After 5 years of practicing as an RN in the ICU and PACU, she completed the CRNA program at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Whittington has been a CRNA since 2003.
